I remember when I met my little star.
It was 2:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning.
I was curled up on my bed, tears in my eyes, sad music blasting through my headphones.
I was alone, again...
Then my little star came.
I looked out my window, and gazed at the only star visible in the sky.
It was a beautiful star.
I asked,
"Little star... can you please send me a friend? Someone I can always have by my side? Someone who will love me for me?"
The star twinkled and I smiled, closing the drapes and laying down.
It wasn't until I woke up a few hours later did I realize I was still home alone.
I was alone... again. Or was I?
I heard noises in the kitchen, so I got myself out of bed and walked down the hallway, turned the corner, and stared in confusion as I saw it.
It was a small, floating star. It was around the same size as those Valentine's day bears, ya know, the pocket sized ones?
The little star floated over to me and nudged my cheek. I was startled and fell over. Then it spoke.
"Hi there Asteria, my name is Lumos. It's nice to meet you!"
"Oh.. Hi there Lumos.. I-how do you know my name?"
"You asked me last night for a friend! So I came down to grant your wish! And speaking of which, your mother is home, so i'll go hide in your room!"
That was the last moment of my normal life, because now? I had my little star.
